This is a sketch for all of my aspiring actresses out there. Only in the black community do we make a big deal over complexion but the truth is Hollywood can’t tell the difference and they don’t care! So the first tip is don’t worry about your complexion, just do a good audition and hope that the part doesn’t go to someone who isn’t black! Good luck!
(New Video Post) Light Skin Vs Dark Skin – How to Survive Being A #BlackActress

Nice Work Andrea! Looking forward to the premiere of the series!
That just goes to show us all that Hollyweird is royally fucked up when it comes to skin color. Black woman in particular. We need more black casting directors, writers, producers etc. We need to be in charge of our own businesses including Hollyweird.
I wish the divide never existed smh…the community needs to uplift rather than cause a rift! love the vid thanks for sharing!
Amen. Loved what the second female said. Even though I still don’t know her name and she was on that Cupid webseries. -_-
Very nice. I was shocked when I saw those pictures. Disgusting. And the crazy thing is that Black people still watch the movies, like the actors…just ugh. Upsetting.
I do not think white ppl see a diff b/w light/dark skin
oooh!!! she’s from baltimore woot woot! loved this sketch.
Referring to the above text,I definitely think that they notice and care. I’ve heard of cases where casting does specify what complexion they are looking for. Maybe I’m more familiar with model castings where they prefer the racially ambiguous look ? However, since you are an actress and I’m not, I’m open to a different understanding. I hope that that is the case that they don’t see the difference & I’m glad that you haven’t found that to be the case!
Keep em coming, Andrea! Looking forward to “Black Actress”!
ohh I get it now after rewatching lol
