(New Video Post) Maya Angelou Dedication #SelfLoveSaturday

Happy Self Love Saturday!

Today I wanted to show a some love and dedicate this video to the woman who I believe was one of the first to teach us to love ourselves and that’s Dr. Maya Angelou! Her life, words and actions are the truest form of Self Love and living life to it’s fullest potential! I’ve always been inspired by Dr. Maya Angelou but I’ve been overwhelmed by inspiration this week getting to absorb her entire life and all of the amazing things she did and the incredible and diverse life that she lived! Dr. Maya Angelou taught us so much and I appreciate her most for teaching us to love ourselves. Below check out my video dedication and enjoy one of my favorite poems from her. “Phenomenal Woman”

Happy Self Love Saturday!

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

(New Post) R.I.P Dr. Maya Angelou – “A Moment to be Inspired by Her Words”

It’s a sad day. A beautiful, vivacious, intelligent, wise and brave woman has passed on, Dr. Maya Angelou (April 4th 1928-May 28 2014) .

Just last night I was day dreaming about when I decorate my new place and the pictures of inspirational icons that I’d like to put up and she was first on my list. There’s so much that I learned and continue to learn from Dr. Maya Angelou, about life and love, dreams, passion and living a life of purpose. She is truly amazing!  I worked with her when I was 12 yrs old in her directorial debut “Down in The Delta” it was a small role but had a big impact on my life. On that set she gave me her book “I know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and to this day it is one of my greatest gifts. But the best thing I got from her was advice for continuing on my journey, she told me, “Everything happens in its time” and “what is meant for you, no one can take away” this words have stuck with and helped me and comforted me in times of doubt and worry about my future and I’m so grateful to have had the chance to work with and know this woman. This morning I woke up and I thanked God for giving us the gift of Dr. Maya Angelou and thanked her for encouraging us, helping and guiding us to always do better. In this post I wanted to share some of her amazing quotes and hope that you guys take in with me all of the inspiration that she has left us with. Rest in peace.
