(New Video Post) Be The Star of Your Own Life #SelfLoveSaturday

Happy Self Love Saturday!

How are you guys doing? Today I was inspired to talk to you guys about “being the star of your own life”. In the book “A Return To Love” By Marianne Williamson she speaks about society’s obession with Celebrity Culture and the fact that she believes we are so obsessed with celebrity because most people are not starring in their own lives. I completely agree with her and I used to be one of those people who was not being the lead in my own life and was instead waiting for something else and feeling like I wasn’t good enough to be the lead.  If it wasn’t for my Self Love journey I probably would still feel that way, but I can honestly say that once I began to live life according to me and not what I thought others wanted me to be I started to be okay with letting my peacock feathers fly and I realized life was too short for me to not live this way! Check out my video below on the importance of Being The Star of Your Own Life!

(New Video Post) Start The Year with Self Love & Self Investment #SelfLoveSaturday

New-Beginnings

Happy Self Love Saturday!

Hey guys! Happy New Year! How are you? I’m excited, this is my favorite time of year because we all get a chance at a new beginning! For me this is a time of self reflection and goal setting and today I want to talk to you guys about the importance of your vision board and your overall theme for the year and how a new start on your self investment will help you to have a fantastic year. 2015 is my year of change, I plan on changing a lot of things in my life, all the things that I’m not satified with, any of the bad habits that I haven’t let go of, and finding away to go harder, do more and be better! It takes 21 days to make or break a habit so I’ve decided to start my year with two new challenges, the first being a 30 day flat Ab challenge with http://www.blogilates.com/ and then a 100daysofGratitude challenge. I did a 100happydays challenge a few months ago and it was a lot of fun and definitely had some challenging days but I decided to do the Gratitude Challenge because I feel like gratitude is very different from Happiness but the two go hand in hand. Like I mentioned before, this is my year of change and before I can make any changes to my life I need to feel grateful for what I have and a gratitude challenge will help as a constant reminder of that. Check out my video below on how I’m starting my New Year!

Happy Self Love Saturday!

(New Video Post) Embrace Your Natural Curl w/ @MalaikaRussell #beautyadvice

photo-1

Happy New Year Folks! I’m starting it off with hair!

I met my curl sister! LOL I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely & talented Malaika Russell before the holiday and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we could legitimately be sisters! We have basically the same curl pattern and a very similar genetic makeup! Woop! I love meeting people that could be related to me, something about it makes me feel happy. When I met up with Malaika I decide to have a chat with her about “embracing your natural curls”, this is something that a lot of natural girls struggle with, especially if they are transitioning or putting down the flat iron for good! It’s hard to embrace your natural curls at first, especially if they are damaged and have atleast six months to a year before they are amazing, but trust me we’ve all been there and this whole period will eventually be worth it so hold on! Check out the video below and a bonus video I did a while back about bringing your curls back! Happy New Year!

(New Video Post) Save Yourself #SelfLoveSaturday

Screen Shot 2014-12-13 at 8.53.35 AM

Happy Self Love Saturday!!

Today I want to talk to you guys about saving yourself from anything! I learned this at some point in the beginning of the year when I realized that I was my own super hero, and the only person I could rely on to take me out of a situation was myself! It’s easy for us to blame our situations on different people or other factors but you have to realize that stuff happens and the only person who can fix it or change or help it is you! Save yourself! Check out my video below on the importance of learning to save yourself!

(New Video Post) Hair Color Advice for Curly Hair with @BiancaAlexa #BeautyAdviceForMyYoungerSelf

Screen Shot 2014-11-17 at 12.42.23 AM

Hey guys!

I recently sat down with my girl Simply Bianca to chat about hair color and the good, bad and ugly about dying your hair! If you’ve followed me for awhile then you’ll know that I have changed my look a lot, especially my hair color. I’ve done everything from blonde to red and all the in between colors and because of that my hair has seen a lot of damage and rebuilding to get it to the healthy state it is in now. When I sat down with Bianca the most important thing I wanted to ask her is what advice she would give to her younger self about hair dye from knowing what she knows? Both of us said that we would tell our younger selves that treatments were the key to maintaining any type of health and to stay away from the heat! If you’re thinking about dying your hair or have been through a journey with it like us, check out our video below and join the discussion.

(New Video Post) Embrace Your Mistakes #SelfLoveSaturday

Screen Shot 2014-12-05 at 10.28.40 PM

Happy Self Love Saturday!

Today I want to talk to you guys about “Embracing Your Mistakes”. It has taken me a long time to learn the power of embracing my mistakes and not dwelling on them but rather learning from them and doing better. When you know better you do better and the only way to learn is through your mistakes. I had to learn that I had to let go and just learn, the mistakes I had and continue to make don’t make me a failure they make me smarter, stronger, wiser and more confident. I’ve been through a lot, I’ve made mistakes, I took what I learned and I grew and that’s what life is about. Check out my video below on the importance of embracing your mistakes.

I brought my best friend Melisa with me and we had an amazing time! Big Shout out to Iris and George who showed me a very gracious time on the island and I was truly grateful for the experience. I tried to film as much as I could and give you guys a little peak into the beauty of the people and island, check out my vlog below and look out for more updates on my Artist Grind!

(New Video Post) “Be Grateful But Not Content” #SelfLoveSaturday

photo-3

Happy Self Love Saturday!

Today I want to talk to you guys about being “Grateful but not content”. I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my gratitude. If you follow me on instagram you’ll know that I recently completed my 100happydays challenge which was basically a challenge in Gratitude and I’ve been reading a lot about the importance of Gratitude. I recently read “What I know for Sure” by Oprah and she spoke a bit about being grateful but not content with her life when she was younger and it was this that helped to drive her to get further ahead but her gratitude helped her to not stress and remain happy on her journey. I’m definitely in this place in life right now, where I’m very happy with my life and my experiences but I’m in no way content with my life and I’m constantly looking for more. My self love journey has helped me to finally be okay during this time in my life whereas in my past I didn’t feel grateful, instead I was stressed and worried because I wanted more and I lost sight of being grateful. Gratitude has definitely helped me to understand the journey and all of the little messages and lessons along the way to growing, check out my video below on why I’m grateful but not content.

(New Video Post) Top 5 Ridiculous Expectations of ACTORS

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 5.27.47 PM

I recently had a conversation with a friend and she said, “there’s something I’ve always wanted to know about Actors but never had a chance to ask?…How am I supposed to know when you’re not acting anymore? Like when were you being Hazel and when are you being Andrea?” …. *Blank Stare* *Awkward Silent Pause* LOL I was completely stumped on how to answer this because the answer seemed very obvious to me buuuutt I’m never “Hazel” I’m always “Andrea” in real life and I’m only acting when I’m on set or stage because that’s my job lol. This question though as silly as it was to me is a common misinterpretation of what it’s like to be an actor, so I decided to gather a few of my talented friends to discuss the “Top 5 Ridiculous Expectations of Actors” check out the video below and chime in if you agree.

1. Can You Cry?

“You’re an actor! That’s awesome, can you cry on the spot?” No! I don’t know any actors that can cry on que but I do know a lot of actors who can cry while doing a scene that requires them to have certain emotions and they are only able to cry because they have practiced, studied and prepared to be as much in character and connected to the scene as possible aka acting.

2. When Are You Not Acting?

The type of person who is “acting” all the time whether it is their job or not is mentally unstable. Actors are not “acting” everywhere they go or constantly being a character. Is a receptionist always answering a phone and organizing files? No. Actors are only acting while they are at work.

3. Act for me Now!

I’m sorry but just because I have a profession in the arts doesn’t mean I’m a puppet or wind-up toy that can tap dance whenever a random stranger wants some entertainment. This same question is asked every time someone finds out I’m a singer as well, “oh you’re a singer? Let me hear something…” *walks aways*

4. Have I seen Something?

I understand why people ask this question to actors but like Rob says, as an actor you usually feel a bit uncomfortable if they haven’t seen anything and you’re trying your best to cater your answer to the taste of the person asking.  But honestly if you don’t recognize them, then you most likely haven’t seen them, and that’s okay!

5. This is Tough..

Yes, we all know that being an actor is tough and not everyone is going to become a big Hollywood star but not every actor is after that! Every industry has their challenges but that doesn’t stop people from pursuing their dreams and actors are no different please stop reminding us about how tough our industry is.

If you’re an actor, what else would you add to the list?
