(New Video Post) Broken Camera – But The Show Must Go On! #SelfLoveSaturday

img_4465

Happy Self Love Saturday!

My camera is broken 🙁 It hurts me to type that. I gave it in to the repair shop yesterday and all the camera stores I went to gave me the same report that it would take 3-6 weeks because of the holidays…womp womp :(.

But as disappointed as I am the show must go on. That was the lesson for me this week, regardless whatever bumps, heart aches, unexpected repairs, and whatever other BS comes in your way, the show doesn’t stop! You have to keep going.

What is “the show”? The show is your goals, your dreams, your long term plans, your true self, your best self, it’s the thing that is most important to you — The path to this doesn’t stop because of stress, depression, defeat, financial strains etc. Stay focused on the course, deal with the problems as they come in the best way possible, in the way that serves you in the end. Learn the lesson, grow and prosper! All week that message has been slapping me in the face, asking me “what is important to you? Why? How will you do it?”  I have a cough/cold right now and I had an audition yesterday where I had to sing SING 4 songs. So I tied my boot straps tight, drank all the tea my pantry had to offer, hot tottied my way to bed every night and sweat through all the layers of clothes I had on to make sure something resembling “Andrea the singer” would show up to my audition.

My camera’s broken but that doesn’t stop me from posting and talking about my weekly Self Love Message because it’s not about my camera in the end, it’s not about a super polished image and a bunch of likes, it’s about my journey and talking about it with the community of people who have constantly encouraged and inspired me to keep going.

The show must go on.

Today my message to you, is no matter what you’re going through, stay focused on the long term goal,  take a deep breath, talk to a friend or family member if you can’t solve the issue on your own and aim for success. Your goals don’t stop, your growth don’t stop. YOU don’t stop! The show must go on.

(New Blog Post) What is your Morning Routine?

screen-shot-2016-12-12-at-10-35-52-am
What is your morning routine?

It is incredibly important to have a consistent and structured morning routine. Many successful people talk about their morning habits and the significance the structure has had in their overall success in life and business.

When you start every day with healthy habits and focussing on what is important for you in your life you consciously and subconsciously take actions towards the life you want.

The main benefits of a morning routine performed every day is that not a day will go by without you thinking about your goals and what you want to reach which in turn helps you achieve them

Depending on what your morning routine consists of it can help you with everything from getting more focussed and effective to getting into physical shape.

My morning routine could definitely use some work and a big goal for myself from now and into 2017 is to set myself up for daily success.

My morning routine in reality:

I wake up, my first thoughts and words are “Thank you God” and then I grab my phone, and check emails, I do a bit of social media scrolling, I get up out of bed, brush my teeth, wash my face, prepare a glass of water, lemon and apple cider vinegar, I drink 2 glasses, then make a smoothie. Then I tackle the work for the day. Which usually consists of emails, and planning a shoot, event or video drop.

I don’t take much time for myself with this routine, I don’t meditate, my prayer time is not set into place, but instead just happens as a conversation with God while I multi-task. And exercise? That is more of an after thought rather than a “must do” part of my day. The only true structured part of my morning is my water consumption and not sleeping past 8:30 am. I’d really like to do better.

My morning routine goals?

Wake up by 7am (7:30 latest, I love sleep lol). “Thank you God”, drink my 2-3 glasses of water, meditate on my goals and thoughts. Conversation with God, and 30 mins to an hour of free form, creative writing.  Head to a hot yoga or bootcamp class. Check emails when I get home, and then get into work mode!

In a perfect world this is the regular start to my day. I’m learning daily, that life is all about, “How to Win” and “what do you need to do to win? What does winning look like for you? Because it’s different for all of us, some people can operate on 4-6 hours sleep while others need 8. Some people need quiet time before bed and others can fall asleep in the middle of a party and wake up 30 minutes later refreshed! It takes a while to learn what you need and don’t need, what a perfect situation looks like for you and what you can tolerate or handle. My 2017 education plan is going to focus on what “winning” looks like for me and what are the chess moves that I need to make, personally and professionally in order to WIN.

Today I’m starting with my morning routine.

What does your morning routine look like? What habits have helped you?

(New Post) 20 Signs You’re Succeeding in Life, Even If You don’t think You Are

“This is for the 20-somethings! Time really moves fast you were just 16…” – Beyonce “Schoolin Life”

Hey guys,

I wanted to start you off with a little Monday Motivation and give you a pat on the back for surviving and thriving! I find for us Millennials there is an endless amount of lists, tips, memes, gifs and tests to show what success looks like, what you should be aiming for and also why you should feel bad if you’re not even close!

But I’ve released more and more that Success is defined differently for every person and no amount of Facebook tests is going to get me to “live my dream life”  and so for that I should have more patience with myself and recognize that even though at times is seems slow, I am making progress. I saw this list during one my moments of distraction from my work (which never happens I swear! LOL) And it hit the nail on the head to let all of us Millennials know that we are succeeding, even if we don’t feel like it. Check out the 20 reasons below and use this as motivation to know that your baby steps are leading you to where you want to be, so keep grinding! 🙂

1. Your relationships are less dramatic than they used to be.

Drama is not maturity. As we age, we should develop maturity. So maybe your relationships were drama-filled in your past, but if you have moved beyond that, then you are successful.

2. You are not afraid to ask for help and support any more.

Asking for help does not equal weakness. In fact, it is a strength. No person has ever succeeded in isolation. It takes teamwork to accomplish goals. Asking or help is a sign that you have grown as a person.

3. You have raised your standards.

You don’t tolerate bad behavior any more – from other people, or even yourself. You hold people accountable for their actions. You don’t spend time with the “energy vampires” in your life anymore.

4. You let go of things that don’t make you feel good.

No, this is not narcissistic even though it might seem like it. Self-love is success. Love yourself enough to say ‘no’ to anything that doesn’t make you happy, doesn’t serve your purpose, or drags you down.

5. You have moments where you appreciate who you see in the mirror.

Ideally, you should appreciate who you see in the mirror at every moment. But even if that doesn’t happen, if you do it more than you used to, then that is success. Love yourself. You are awesome.

6. You have learned that setbacks and failure are part of self-growth.

Not everyone can have success 100% of the time. That’s just not realistic. Life is about victories and losses. So look at your setbacks as stepping stones to something better. In reality, there really is no such thing as as setback. It’s all just part of a wondrous journey.

7. You have a support system that includes people who would do anything for you.

If you have figured out the people who “have your back” and recognized the ones who only pretend that they do, then you have succeeded. This is a painful realization, but once you learn to see the signs of betrayal, you can stay away from those people.

8. You don’t complain much.

Because you know there really is nothing to complain about. Unless you really have gone through some horrific life experience and had unimaginable losses, most of what we all experience on a day-to-day basis is just mundane. And successful people know that. And they live in a space of gratitude.

9. You can celebrate others’ successes.

Just because other people succeed, that doesn’t make you a failure. Applaud the people who rise to the top. The more positive energy you give to other people’s victories, the more you will create your own.

10. You have passions that you pursue.

You are not stagnant. You know you have something wonderful to contribute to the world. You have unique talents and gifts. Not only do you know that, you pursue it.

11. You have things to look forward to.

If you don’t have exciting things going on in your life that you are eagerly anticipating, then you are slowly dying inside. Successful people create goals that they are passionate about pursuing. They let this excitement drive their life.

12. You have goals that have come true.

Even though “failures” are a part of life, you have stuck to your goals and dreams long enough to make them come to fruition. You have  some tastes of victory. It fuels you.

13. You have empathy for others.

A person without empathy is dead inside. Empathy equals spreading love and positive energy into the world. Successful people know this. They love others as if they are family.

14. You love deeply and open yourself up to be loved by others.

Love is risky, and sometimes scary for people. It’s the one thing we all strive for, but it’s also intimately tied to the one thing we fear the most – rejection. If you open your heart enough to love and be loved, then you are successful.

15. You refuse to be be a victim.

You know that life doesn’t always happen to you. Many times, you are a co-creator of your life experiences. Successful people know this and refuse to be kept down by life experiences. The rise up and conquer anyway.

16. You don’t care what other people think.

You know you can’t please everyone. You know that the standards with which society judges people is many times unrealistic. So you just keep true to yourself and love the person you are.

17. You always look on the bright side.

Life can be full of disappointments – if you choose to see them that way. Otherwise, they are learning opportunities. No negative experience is ever wasted as long as you learn from it.

18. You accept what you can’t change.

Let’s face it – there many things you can’t change in life. All you can change is how you view what happens. If you can change your negative perspective on situations to a positive one, then you are successful.

19. You change what you can.

And let’s face it again – there are many things you can change in life. Successful people don’t sit around accepting the negatives that are changeable. They get out there and do something about it!!

20. You are happy.

To me, this is the ultimate definition of success. It doesn’t matter what the balance is in your bank account, how big your house is,  or how many fancy vacations you take. If you are happy, then you are succeeding in life.

Even if you don’t see yourself in many of these 20 things, don’t fret. It’s okay. Be happy that you see yourself in just a few. In time, the rest will come. You just need to keep moving onward and upward.

(New post) 10 High Performance Habits that Lead to Success #SelfLoveSaturday

I think I read one of these lists every week. There’s always one floating around face book along with “20 overrated things about being in your 20’s” which I also read and I’m going to stop because it does nothing for my life!

But back to my story, I found this list late last week and I liked it, it had some things that I already knew but it was simple, too the point and it didn’t try to make you feel bad for not doing everything on the list. I’ve been on a serious “success” and “living to my potential” obsession for almost 2 yrs now and whether you think that’s crazy or not doesn’t matter to me because it’s helped me a lot! As many of these lists that I stumble on and search for and even if they all say the same thing over and over again I read it because it reminds me of what I’m after and what will help me get there.

Of all the things on this list below that I need to work on the most it’s probably to “take advantage of my morning”. I love to sleep, and unless I need to be on a set at 6am or do a live morning show interview at 5:30 in the morning then I will be a sleep to a decent hour, nothing crazy like 12pm or anything but just not anything before 9am! But I would love to figure out the ways of changing my sleep pattern and waking up earlier to get more done in my day, I guess that’ll be my next task for my “self-improvement mission”. Check out this list below and tell me what you think, which of these habits have you already picked up and which ones are you working on? Happy Self Love Saturday!

1. Win the Morning

While the world sleeps, the high performer works. Could you imagine if you woke up on purpose, with purpose every day? How can you expect to achieve excellence when the first decision you make on a daily basis is to procrastinate the day by hitting the snooze button?

Win the morning by waking up earlier than you normally do to get a workout in, feed your mind with good books, and fuel your body with a good breakfast—all before the rest of the world is deciding whether to get up or not. Win the morning.

2. Do Hard Things

We are surrounded by people who want the fastest and easiest path to success, but not you—not anymore. Rather than run from the challenge that is keeping you from doing what you want, stare it in the face; learn about it; and embrace it.

“The road to greatness is easy”, said “no one ever”.

Doing hard things will teach you lessons you wouldn’t learn otherwise, and will make you stronger than you thought possible.

You can do hard things.

3. Embrace feedback

The average person hates to be told what they are doing wrong or what they can do better. Learning to accept feedback is not easy, but once you decide to seek it out and act on ways you can improve, you will dramatically improve your progress.

Embracing feedback doesn’t mean to do what everyone tells you; identify key mentors or coaches who are great at what they do and more importantly, who care about your future, then allow them to take you places you wouldn’t have gone otherwise.

4. Learn from Failure

No one likes to fail, lose, or mess up; but high performers use adversity to learn lessons, and refuse to allow them to disable them emotionally. When you fail, identify what you did well, what you can do better, and what you are going to do about it right now.

5. Choose your attitude

One of the most important decisions you make every day is the attitude you are going to have when you walk out your door. Don’t take your attitude for granted or it will get the best of you.

6. Do one more

As an athlete, you can do 10 reps in the weight room, or you can do 11.  As a sales rep you can choose to make 15 calls or choose to do 16. One of the best ways to build mental strength is to do something you might not want to do, but you know will help you.

Do one more—because the average person won’t.

7. Have a purpose

The clearer you can see your target, the more likely you are to hit it. High performers don’t do things “just because”, as mentioned earlier, they do things on purpose, with purpose. When you know why you do what you do, you’ll have more power to do it.

8. Recommit every single day

One reason the average person doesn’t achieve their goals is because life catches up to them and they allow the things that they have to do blind them from the things they want to do. Every day, recommit to the things that matter most.

You empower yourself when your priorities are in line.

9. Be patient

Success is made in a slow-cooker, not a microwave. High performers understand that overnight success comes after years of hard work. Be patient with yourself, keep your eyes on the prize and focus on the process, the results will take care of themselves.

10. Fear no one

Refuse to allow people to intimidate you. You don’t need anyone’s permission to do something great. Putting others on a pedestal because of their talent, experience, and or accolades makes you susceptible to beating up on yourself because you feel that you’re not as good as they are. Anyone can be beat, including you; so respect your competition but refuse to fear them—who knows, they may fear you.

(New Video Post) Surround yourself with the perfect team – goal #24

#24 – Surround yourself with the perfect team!

This is one of the goals that I’m currently working on and I will admit, it’s a little bit of struggle for me right now but I’m ok because I recognize that this is a transition period for me. Having the right group of people around you is key to reaching a high level of success. You need people that are like minded, inspire you, encourage you, motivate you and you are able to do the same for them.

This year I’ve had to make a few cuts to some of my friendships because these relationships weren’t serving or inspiring me anymore and I wasn’t inspiring them either, so it was time to move on. You’re not bitter or upset, you just able to recognize when it’s time to look for something more. So like I said this is a goal that is transition right now so I’ll have to do a part 2 on when I’ve gathered the perfect team, but the key message in this video is to look around and make sure that you’re surrounding yourself with the perfect team.
